Santa Cruz: 1800’s Garibaldi House Series (3 photos)

Can anyone help me date these 3 photos? I think the Garibaldi Villa Hotel was on Pacific Ave. in downtown Santa Cruz. Where (and when?) was the original Garibaldi House? Jim’s dad, Bob, worked as a bell hop in the hotel. Photos courtesy of Jim Costella:

I was just a little boy at the time but I remember the Girabaldi being on Front St. A little bit down from the Post Office. I remember it being set back off of Front St toward the river. There was a gravel driveway running back to it. My Dad would take me in the bar with him when he was meeting up with his Italian buddies.

Hi Mike, thanks for your response! Sounds like you have some happy memories of that time. Would you mind me asking around what years that would have been? You must have felt pretty cool being in with all the grownups. Did they buy you a soda pop?

    Jim,
The location of the Garibaldi in photo #1 was on Front St. It was destroyed in the downtown fire of 1894.
The location of the Garibaldi in photo #3 was also on Front St., built in 1895, close to the current location of CVS.
