I had to get home using this route and was too scared to go past it. (I was about 20 years old). A very kind man drove my car for me over and past it and I walked over it. Can’t believe that was 30 years ago! What a storm that was.

That was quite a year for storms, wasn’t it? Seems we go along from one year to the next, lulled into a false sense of security, then WHAM! I’ve just re-stocked my battery supply and will be replacing all my flashlight batteries soon. ‘Tis the season 🙂 Thanks for your comment!

My husband and I were on Jameson Creek Rd in Boulder Creek when this portion of the road caved in just after we drove over it. I was watching it collapse behind us in the side mirror on our truck! It was during the storm on first week of January 1982. We had just been flooded out of our rental house in Felton on River Rd and had to go up and over Jameson Creek to stay with friends in Boulder Creek.

Oh my gosh, how harrowing that must have been for you! By a strange coincidence, I lived on River Rd in Felton, too, in Felton Grove. Same as you, I presume? My kids and I evacuated to Jaye’s Timberlane in Ben Lomond, which a friend/client owned. I remember being so scared that the mountain behind Jaye’s would come down on us! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Just out of curiosity, do recall what your address was on River Rd in the 82′ flood? I was at 541 River Rd. You wouldn’t happen to have any old photos you’d like to share? Those were some scary days, weren’t they?
