Mud on roof of car.
Here are a couple of photos I took in 1982 just after the flood. Note the garbage can in the tree and the few inches of mud on the roof of the car in the 2nd photo.

This was our rental house and our new car..a Subaru . I think the address is 497 River Road. The house took almost 6′ of water. It is right on the river bank. We lost just about everything.
Did you send a photo? If so I don’t see it. There’s no 497 River. There was a 492 (now gone) 490, (still there but not elevated) and a 470 (now elevated) River Rd. When you drive down Park Ave did you turn left or right onto River? Sorry to hear you lost everything. Did the landlord or anyone help you? What a bummer 😦
Hi:
We lived at 185 Sylvan Way in Felton Grove…My husband and I watched as the river invaded our homes that day and night. It just never backed off – we had 19 inches of rain that day…it was all of the volunteers that came from as far away as Canada that gave us any hope. That day of January 4th 1982 changed our lives forever. That home was our “dream” home when we purchased it 2 years prior never thinking about a 100 year storm…that one day turned the dream into our worst nightmare!!!
Those of us that were victims of that storm were called “Soggy Survivors!!!!”
I would like in closing to again THANK EVERYONE who helped us!!!! Mike and I couldn’t have done it without the outpouring of each and every person that pitched in to help.
God Bless You All

Hi Janet, Thanks for your comment. It’s nice to hear from folks who lived through that big flood of ’82! FYI, I also just posted your comment and some photos from the flood on one of my other blogs: https://feltongrove.wordpress.com/ along with a photo of a genuine “Soggy Survivor” t-shirt, donated by another survivor. Thanks!
